HNLU secures global recognition for visionary leadership in 2025 WURI rankings

Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, has earned a significant global accolade by securing the 46th position globally in the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) under Category B1: Visionary Leadership.

The rankings, officially announced on July 10, reaffirm HNLU’s emergence on the international academic stage as an institution committed to forward-thinking legal education, institutional reform, and impactful leadership.

This year’s WURI Rankings assessed a record 4,866 innovation case submissions from 1,350 universities worldwide. A panel of 203 academic leaders from various global regions evaluated these submissions based on their innovativeness, implementability, and societal impact. The 2025 edition witnessed a 70 per cent surge in global participation, underscoring the significance of HNLU’s achievement.

Reflecting on the recognition, Prof (Dr) V C Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor of HNLU, said- “The launch of the R-HaS (Research Hub and Spoke) initiative in 2023, with five Research Schools and 25 interdisciplinary Research Centres, has begun to yield tangible results. Faculty and students are now engaged in key research projects. This international acknowledgment by WURI serves as a major impetus for advancing the R-HaS vision.

The WURI Rankings are organised by IPS Switzerland and supported by the Hanseatic League of Universities, with sponsorship from iSTAT. Distinct from traditional university rankings, WURI focuses on real-world impact and value creation, spotlighting institutions that champion innovation, social responsiveness, and bold educational reform.

HNLU’s entry into the top global tier of innovative universities places it among a select group of institutions that are redefining the role of leadership and innovation in higher education on a global scale.
